Description

Discover the wonders of theLa Maddalena Archipelago! The motor vessel departs daily from the port of Santa Teresa Gallura and carries out an evocative navigation in the area of the Mouths of Bonifacio to the most beautiful coves and coastlines of the Archipelago.

Visiting the beauty of the La Maddalena Archipelago by boat is an experience you will always take with you! With the Consorzio delle Bocche motorboats you can admire and bathe in an unspoilt area. With the motor vessels, you can dock at the jetties of the S. Maria and Spargi beaches with the help of gangways.

For years, a vast area of sea covering some 20,000 hectares has been a National Park with the seven main islands: La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria and Razzoli. The islands of the archipelago are part of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, which actively preserves the marine and terrestrial environment.

We will also take a closer look at the Pink Beach one of the symbols of the park, a wonder of nature, whose myth was also exalted and made immortal by Michelangelo Antonioni's famous film Deserto Rosso.

Itinerary

LA MADDALENA BOAT TRIP ITINERARY

What are the planned stages?

Meeting point at the Port of Santa Teresa Gallura

The meeting point is at the ticket office of the Bocche Consortium at the port of Santa Teresa Gallura.

In August make sure you arrive at the boarding gate at 08:00; in other months boarding starts at 08:15.

Departure towards Budelli

Departure from the port of Santa Teresa Gallura and navigation towards Budelli.
While sailing, one can admire the white cliffs of Bonifacio and the breathtaking panorama of the north coast of Sardinia and the south coast of Corsica in the distance.

Panoramic View Pink Beach

On Budelli Island we can see the legendary Pink Beach, one of the most beautiful in the world! It owes its name to the colour of the sand, rich in tiny fragments of bryozoan skeletons, coral, granite, shells and mollusc shells. The spectacular colouring is due to a pink micro-organism that 'inhabits' the Posidonia oceanica meadows. When it dies, the shells are washed ashore, shredded by the action of water and wind. To protect this very fragile ecosystem, no boats have been allowed to anchor or swim here since 1998.

Santa Maria Island beach stop

Most of the islands and islets of the archipelago are uninhabited. Santa Maria Island, on the other hand, is home to some 20 dwellings that are mainly frequented during the summer. You will descend to the beach by mooring at the adjacent jetty conveniently using the footbridge, and you can sunbathe and swim in the crystal-clear waters.

Panoramic view Manto della Madonna

We will continue sailing and pass one of the most famous points of interest in the archipelago: the Manto della Madonna or Porto della Madonna. This area is so called because it is considered a safe harbour in almost all winds. The incredible blue of this stretch of sea takes your breath away: a real unspoilt natural pool with a shallow and transparent seabed. Absolutely a must-see!

Lunch break

Lunch break where you will be served at the table. The captain will choose the most suitable place for the lunch break depending on the sea weather conditions.

La Maddalena city stop

We land in the marina of La Maddalena where you can visit this small town. The cosy old town is full of ice-cream parlours and shops for shopping.

Spargi beach stop

Stop for a swim at Spargi Cala Corsara beach, another incredible bay to admire and visit.
17:00

Navigation and Return

During the return voyage to Santa Teresa Gallura, you can admire the beauty of the views of the north coast of Sardinia, including Punta Falcone, the Marmorata with its Isolotto dei Gabbiani, the forts of the Batteria Ferrero and the thrilling entrance to the Santa Teresa di Gallura fjord.
17:00

Stops may be reversed depending on the provisions of the Magdalena Park Authority
